Dream, Imagine, Create...Doodle Journal NO. 2

I'm continuing to enjoy creating art journal pages.  I'm currently taking an online class from Kate Crane called Journal Soup 2.  You can find her blog here and a link to her Journal Soup 2 online class here. I have learned new techniques and rediscovered my love for doodling, which I did for countless hours as a child.  I followed the bright reds and pinks color palette from the class with a few spins of my own. I hope you enjoy my project enough to check out Kate's class and give it a try!

Doodling Journal with Dylusions Paint

Today, I created a project using Dylusions Paints. I purchased these at the beginning of the year and when I received them, I was a little intimidated by them. They were bright and bold and though I loved them, I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to use them. I saw a project completed by Marta Lapkowska using these paints and it was just the push I needed to give them a try. She has inspired me to try other forms of art and so I decided to give my doodling skills a try using these paints. Marta is a wonderful artist and she really has a talent for getting one excited about art.  You can find Marta's blog here.

Here is my journal project.

I cannot begin to tell you how much fun this was to create. I used some stamps from Paper Artsy, Tim Holtz and Dylusions stencils.  he houses, sun, flower vine, grass and text are all drawn by hand. I hope you like my first doodle journal page and if you haven't tried Dylusions paint, well, you are really missing out on a ton of fun!

Wish Big - MFT Color Challenge #25

When I sit down to make a card, it takes me a long time to put together colors and decide how to put it all together.  Playing along with MFT's Color Challenge gets me through half the battle. They come up with the colors, and I do the rest.  See, half the battle is done!  I had to improvise a little because I didn't have two of the colors in the challenge.  Instead of Peach Bellini and Daffodil, I substituted Coral Crush and Lemon Drop.  For this card, I decided to use my new Birthday Bears stamps and dies and also the new Birthday Balloon Die-namics.

To make the balloons, I paired matching balloon designs from the Birthday Wishes & Balloons die set with Birthday Balloon Die-namics. Because the Birthday Wishes & Balloons dies are slightly larger than the Birthday Balloon dies they nest perfectly together.  Here are some photos of how this process was done:

By selecting the matching balloon shapes and "nesting" them, I can create an outline of the balloon.

This left a window so I could use my background stamps to create fun designs on the balloons.  It was really fun to create these balloons and use these colors together.
