Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Make Your Own Background

Happy Monday, everyone! I'm so glad you stopped by this beautiful Monday morning. It's another amazing challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and our theme is, Make Your Own Background. We are featuring Dylusions products this week. How fun is that?!? I love Dylusions and need to spend more time playing with them. Below is a full tutorial on how I created the background for the card. I hope you find some of the tips useful and that you pull out those supplies and get craftin'.

Also, this month our guest designer is Linda from Hearfully Inspired. Please stop by to check out her amazing talent and leave a little love on her blog. ♥

Enjoy!

I cut a 5" x 7" piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb. card stock and applied Calypso Teal and Vibrant Turquoise Dylusions Paints in random areas. I used baby wipes to apply the paint.

Next, I applied Cut Grass, Fresh Lime and Lemon Zest Dylusions paints in random areas using the same application with baby wipes. I set that aside to completely dry.

While my panel is drying, I stamp stems and flowers from Dylusions Fancy Florals and How Does Your Garden Grow stamp sets onto Simon Says Stamp Vintage Paper with Black Soot Archival Ink.

I gently tear the edges of the paper around the stamped image following the lines of the stamp.

I adhere the flowers to the dried painted panel using Ranger Multi Matte Medium.

I continue adding interest to the background with the Basic Backgrounds  and Inbetweenies Dylusions stamp sets. I stamp in random areas.

Next, I add more interest using more of the background stamps by second generation stamping them on in Leaf Green and Orange Blossom Archival Ink and Simon Says Stamp High Dive Ink.

When the background is completely dry and all the inks are set, I add some texture with the Small Alphabet Border stencil and Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste.

I paint the flowers with Postbox Red, Tangerine Dream, Squeezed Orange and Lemon Zest Dylusions Paints. I paint the petals with Dirty Martini Dylusions Paint and go over all the edges with Black Soot Distress Paint. I use the Black Soot paint that has the dauber top which makes the application a breeze.

I go over the stamped image with a black pen to recover some of the lines that were dulled by the paint.

I add the Simon Says Stamp Miss You wafer die sentiment that was cut out of Bazzill Black Licorice card stock and adhere the entire panel onto a 5-1/2" x 7-3-4" piece of yellow card stock to brighten it up and draw the eye to the beautiful background colors.

I can't thank you enough for staying with me to the end. I hope you enjoyed seeing the process I used to create my card using many amazing Dylusions products. Please join us in all the fun and add your project to Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge Blog for your chance to win a $50 gift voucher to their amazing store.
